Ricky Owens, along with Brad Chiles, Judy Reeves, Cassidy Williams, and Ricky's parrot Professor Pericles, make up Mystery Incorporated.

They go to the Darrow Mansion to search for a piece of the Planispheric Disk, but they don't find it. ("Escape from Mystery Manor")

After Brad sees someone coming and going at night to the Old Spanish Church, they investigate. Professor Pericles flies off when they see something run by, and Ricky tries to stop him by climbing up an organ. The organs fall, and Professor Pericles comes back, explaining it was just a possum. This leads them to a scroll with the Planispheric Disk on it, that was hidden in the pipes. ("Pawn of Shadows")

Mystery Incorporated goes to Fred Jones for advice about finding the pieces.

They follow Professor Pericles' calculations to the Crystal Cove Caves, where they are able to find the Planispheric Disk. Using Judy's locket, he gets the piece, but a booby trap goes off. They escape the caves, dropping Judy's locket, but the Freak of Crystal Cove appears. The Freak blackmails Mystery Incorporated into leaving Crystal Cove by threatening them with fabricated documents implicating their parents in various crimes. They hand over their piece of the disk to the Freak and leave town. ("All Fear the Freak")

Ricky goes under the name of "Mr. E", and helps the new Mystery Incorporated find the truth behind the curse of Crystal Cove. ("Pawn of Shadows")
